Obituary of Arvid Harry Elves

Please share a memory of Arvid to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Arvid Harry Elves was born on July 6, 1932, at a farm in Lost River, Saskatchewan. He was the oldest of five siblings born to Harry and Annie (Schellenberg) Elves.

Arvid grew up in Torch River where he took his schooling and farmed with his dad and brother, John. Arvid left for a short time to work in a mill in Prince George, BC. Upon his return, Arvid took a job at North Battleford at the radio station. Arvid then returned to Torch River to farm with his dad and brother, John.

In the spring of 1969, Arvid met Judy Tyndall and they were married October 25, 1969. They were blessed with four children: Sheila, Barry, Marilyn, and Raymond.

In 1972, Dad got a job with the D.N.R. at Grassy Lake Tower where he was the forest fire foreman. He was employed seasonally until 1993 when he retired.

Dad enjoyed logging in the bush, having his sawmill, building trim block sheds, chopping, woodworking, Cat work, and breaking land. He was proud of his John Deere tractors. Dad was involved in Living Waters Church Camp, Love Gospel Jamboree, Hi-Way Tabernacle Church, and White Fox Seniors.

Dad was predeceased by his wife Judy (Tyndall) Elves (2010) of 40 years, his parents Harry and Annie (Schellenberg) Elves, brother John Elves, brother-in-law Ted Rhodes, sister Lois (Elves), brother-in-law Bert Lowe, and sister Helen (Elves) Tweidt.

He is survived by his four children and their families: Sheila (Warren), Jannelle (Neil Beitel) and Dustin Bayliss; Barry Elves; Marilyn (Wayne), Zara, Peyton, and Amelia Walton; Ray (Lisa Cisna), Christoffer, Mykal, Samantha, and Zacharie Cisna Elves; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and family.
