Obituary of Joseph Aurel Soucy

Joseph Mark ‘Aurel’ Soucy passed away at the Nipawin Hospital on July 16, 2017, at the age of 83, surrounded by his family. 

Aurel was born on March 13, 1934, at “Old Arborfield” to Paul and Lorette Soucy. He lived on the farm with his parents in Arborfield until 1952.  He and his parents then moved to Pontrilas and began farming there.

On October 29, 1955, Aurel married Ethel Toth; they had 4 children.

In 1968, Aurel, Ethel, and family moved back to Arborfield where he continued farming and working at the Dehy plants.

Aurel always had a great passion for horses, wood working and telling stories.

Aurel is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ethel.  His children; Bea (Landis) Nelson, Priscilla Davis, Bonnie (Ray) Joanette, Ken (Darci) Soucy.  Together they have 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.  His siblings; Lorne (Debbie) Soucy, Rita (Walter) Laroque, and Irene MacDonald as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son Kevin (2005) and his parents Paul and Lorette.
