Obituary of John Guest

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John Guest was born January 22, 1930, in Tisdale to Walter and Lilian Guest. He had two siblings Sawyer (Teddy) and Lillian. John grew up in the Sylvania area working on various farms. He married Elaine Smith September 18, 1953. Together they raised four boys; Lonnie, Wayne, Randy, and Adare. They made their home out on the farm in Mistatim where they lived until 1993. John and Elaine then moved to Tisdale where they were still living at the time of his passing.

John was an avid hunter and enjoyed his trips to the hunting cabin. Over the years he was fortunate to get to hunt with many friends, family, and his boys. In his earlier days, he enjoyed playing hockey and even got to play with and against all of his boys and his wife. For many years John was a farmer and heavy equipment operator and owner. He had always taken great pride in his garden and continued to carry this on once they moved to Tisdale. He spent many hours playing cards and visiting till all hours of the night with countless friends and neighbors. Their home was always open to extra children that need a place to stay.  He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family so very much.

John was predeceased by his parents, his brother, his sister, one granddaughter and a number of brother and sister-in-laws.

Left to cherish John’s memory are his wife of 64 years Elaine; his sons Lonnie, Wayne (Carol), Randy (Dawn), Adare (Kristen); Grandchildren: Trevor, Trent (Angela), Donald, Lindsay, Amanda (Scott), Candice (Dean), Amy (Colin), Tabitha (Kurt), Tamara (Chris), Katrina, Owen and Ryan; Great Grandchildren: Kayla, Ethan, Abrielle, Breh, Sadie, Aurora-Lyn, Dalton, Tatiana, Grayson, Danika, Chet, Taylor and Eric; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

We must also mention the love that he had for a special little dog Duke, who will miss him very much.
