Obituary of Wendy Tuleta-Thorson
Wendy Josephine Tuleta-Thorson was born to loving parents Shirley and John Tuleta at the Porcupine-Carragana Hospital. Wendy grew up on a farm 12 miles north of Weekes, SK. In her early years Wendy attended Weekes Elementary School and finished her Grade 12 education at Weekes High School. She was an athletic farm girl who enjoyed running, track and field, curling, baseball, volleyball, rugby and played many other sports. After Highschool she moved to Saskatoon and completed one year of a nursing program at SIAST. She always dreamed of becoming a nurse but times were hard, a nursing strike came on, and she needed to return home.
Wendy worked at a few jobs around Hudson Bay waitressing at Nell’s Cafe and the Co-op Grocery before meeting her future husband Kenneth John Thorson. The two of them met through close friends Ardith and David Derenowski in Hudson Bay. The two tied the knot July 26, 1986, in Hudson Bay, SK. It was a beautiful red and white wedding with beautiful custom dresses that Wendy was extremely proud of. The day seemed like something out of a fairytale. They later welcomed their first baby girl, Mandy Cora-Anne Muriel on February 12, 1989. Their second daughter Sabrina was born April 14, 1992 but unfortunately passed from this life hours after birth. Their final daughter Marina Helena Elizabeth was born June 30, 1994. Wendy was a stay-at-home mom for many years while also babysitting children around the community. In this time being home, she enjoyed painting, making acrylic liquid embroidery, cross stitching on fabric, decorated beautiful cakes, coffeeing often with dear friend Holly Cooper, attended community bingo and farmers markets, and played many games of Rummy around her mother’s kitchen table. Ken and Wendy decided to take a break and live separately where Wendy picked up bus driving. She loved bus driving and served many families from the south and north of the Rm of Porcupine Plain. Unfortunately, a slip from the bus ended her bus driving career but life continued for Wendy. Gaining and helping to raise three beautiful grandbabies (Danika, Emery and Justin), enjoying her beloved pet (Tinsy), gardening, bird & hummingbird watching, crafting, and spending time with friends and family. Wendy’s daughters and grandchildren were her world, and she held on to every inch of life that she could to be with them. After a long battle with her health, she left this life quickly and peacefully surrounded by her daughters and loved ones.
Wendy is predeceased by her daughter Sabrina Thorson, Father John Tuleta, Sister-in-law Lavonne Tuleta, Mother & Father-in-law Fred and Gladys Thorson, brothers-in-law; Robert Thorson & Lorne Thorson, and her beloved pets; Lucky, Tinsy & Chloe.
