Obituary of Julianna Robin
Please share a memory of Julianna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Julianna was born in 1928 on the family farm located in Ditton Park (near Zenon Park) to Ed and Marguerite (nee Riou) Lalonde. She was one of eleven children and became a second Mom to many of her younger siblings. She attained her education at Arborfield School and then worked in the Arborfield Post Office until 1951 when she met and married a WW2 Naval Veteran named Maxime Robin from Moose Range. Max and Julianna were both fully bilingual and both were very proud of their French Heritage. They were connected to multiple communities. They hauled grain to the Moose Range elevaors, got their mail and sold their cream in Aylsham, attended church in Carrot River and bought supplies in Arborfield and Nipawin. Max and Julianna worked hard on and off their mixed farm until 1981 when they retired. They raised four children on the farm - Lawrence, Daniel, Lionel, and Michelle. Once the kids were off the farm Julianna then completed the first Child Care Worker Course at Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon and upon graduation she accepted a position in Regina where she and Max lived and worked for ten years. During this time they enjoyed various activities including traveling. They visited Vatican City and in subsequent years Julianna fulfilled a lifelong dream by visiting the Holy Land. These were wonderful years where her and her daughter Michelle got to share many new experiences and adventures together in Regina. Max and Julianna were also still spending many leisure hours on their farm. In 1993 they moved to Nipawin and enjoyed renewing friendships and starting new ones. Julianna became a Lay Minister for the St. Eugene's Catholic Parish. This two years of Lay Ministry training had required many trips to Regina for Julianna and resulted in a new treasured group of strong spiritual friends for her. Julianna was a lifetime Birder and was particularly passionate about owls. She had attended a number of local Bird Meet Events while she was still on the farm and fed many birds in the winter when she lived in Nipawin. She also spent countless computer hours creating and updating genealogy Family Trees for the Robin, Lalonde, and Riou families. Julianna was an accomplished seamstress and over the years had made many wedding dresses, including the one for her daughter Michelle. She was also an amazing cook and was known by many for her cinnamon buns, chocolate fudge, pea soup, tourtiere (French meat pie) and strawberry surprise. Max passed away in 2003. Julianna continued to live in her own home in Nipawin until 2020. She then moved into Pineview Care Home until her passing.
Julianna is survived by four siblings - Jeannette Rodier (Boyle, AB), Louise Lalonde (Ottawa, ON), Evelyn L'Heureux (Melfort, SK), and Albert Lalonde (Indian Head, SK). She is survived by three of her four children, Lawrence (Karina) of Mexico, Lionel (Barb) of Chilliwack and Michelle (Allan) of Regina. Daniel passed away in 2021.
