Obituary of Dorothy Badke
Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dorothy Ilene Badke was born to John Harold and Mary Tucker in Regina, Saskatchewan and raised in Pontrilas, Saskatchewan. She was the youngest of six children, two boys and four girls.
She went to public school in Pontrilas and was active in summer sports, softball and soccer, and the winter sport of skating. She left school in Grade 9 and went to work assisting mothers with children.
She met Albert ‘Alex’ Badke and they got married when she was sixteen. They moved to a farm west of Codette for six years, and moved back to Pontrilas when her oldest son Mervin was born. They had two more boys, Gary and Dale, and a daughter, Debra. They moved to Nipawin in 1970 to the house she had been residing in until her recent passing. Dad passed away on February 11th, 2006.
Mom enjoyed going to Bingo in Nipawin and she also was in the Senior Bowling League for several years, which she continued until Covid hit. She lived alone for several years, but had many friends to go out for coffee and Bingo. She drove her red Pontiac Grand Am right up into her nineties. She only stopped when the car broke down. Many friends, Dave and Eleanor, Gerri and Raymond, and Linda, helped her with the house and driving for shopping.
She is predeceased by her husband, Albert ‘Alex’; brothers, Fred and Harold; and sisters, Violet, Katherin, and Nelly.
She passed away at age 98 on April 6th, 2025. She will be missed by her children, Mervin, Debra, Garry and Dale; grandchildren and other family and friends.
