John ‘Chap’ Edward Laliberte was born to Moise and Mary Laliberty. He was born and raised in Pine Bluff, Saskatchewan. In 1966 John relocated to Cumberland House, Saskatchewan.
John attended residential school in Sturgeon Landing, Saskatchewan. He lived the majority of his life on the Cumberland House Cree Nation Reserve. John loved nature, talking with people, and he enjoyed reading for hours at a time.
Due to onset of ill health John moved to Pineview Lodge in Nipawin, Saskatchewan in the year of 2020. During his time in Pineview John enjoyed participating in painted, other art activities, playing cards, and watching his favorite TV shows. John was fortunate to have his dear brother Napolean at his side during his time at Pineview.
John was predeceased by his parents, Moise and Mary Laliberte; his grandparents, Thomas and Suzette Head; his sisters, Ann Greenleaf, Nellie Laliberty, and Marie Louise Settee; his brothers, John Baptiste Laliberty, George Laliberty, Frank Laliberte, Thomas Laliberty, Willie Laliberty, and Gilbert Laliberty.
John is survived by his brother, Napolean; nieces and nephews, Sidney and Joseph Laliberte; Peter, Frank, Wayne, Gerald, Neil, John and John Baptiste Jr. Laliberty; Doreen Dussion; Patricia Fiddler; Lorna Chaboyer; Emily, Thomas, Roderick, and Russell Settee; Caroline Stewart; Eric and Lester Laliberte; Marilyn and Darleen Carriere; Rosina Custer; Sheila Deschambeault; Steven and Grant Laliberte; Tiffany Chaboyer; Elizabeth Buck; George and Dennis Laliberte; Corrie Settee; Eugene and Leonard Greenleaf; his aunties, Mary McKenzie, Nancy Mink, Hazel Head and Sylvia Settee.
