Douglas George Brown - Nov 9th 2025

Born at Smeaton, SK., to Alex & Mary Brown where he grew up on the farm SW of Choiceland and attended school in Choiceland. He worked for Sask Wheat Pool as a grain buyer until he married Karen (Reed) Oct 18th, 1969, when they moved to Lynn Lake, MB., where he enrolled in the heavy-duty mechanics course at Sherritt Gordon mines.  After the accidental death of his brother the couple returned to Choiceland where he worked in the bush for some time before getting involved in farming.   With the farming there was always work off the farm to support the farm.  Eventually he bought his own semi tractors and trailers, working many years in Alberta.  That was eventually given up in favor of being at home.  He had a truck on with Grow Plan Fertilizers for many years which he really enjoyed… visiting with a multitude of farmers spring and fall.

He entered horse immersion when he said I do, and put many hours into training horses, showing horses, and supporting the industry.  He was a Western Level II coach and SHF judge for years, until the program changed.  He was a 4-H leader for 10 years.

He enjoyed getting together with friends to play guitar, sing, visiting with friends and playing cards, carpentry and of course his motor bike.

He was predeceased by his parents, Alex & Mary Brown in-laws John & Rae Reed, brother James, brother-in -laws Stan Kropelnicky and Jake Skilnick, sister-in-law Marilyn Reed, nephews Greg Brown, Darren Beedle, niece Sharon Skilnick.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Karen, daughter Nicole and son Chris (Monica). Sisters Kathrine Skilnick, Francis Kroplelnicky, Phyllis (Ron) Beedle, brother-in-law Dennis (Sharon) Reed, sister-in-law Eva Brown (Pat Waunch) as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
