Obituary of Thomas Roderick Settee

Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Tom was raised as the eldest in a large family always looked out for his younger siblings demonstrating kisewatisewin (kindness).  He descended maternally from the large Isidore and Sara Carriere/McAuley family and paternally form the Chief Thomas Settee and Adelaide/Morin Family.  He had an abundance of relatives descending from the above lineages.  They are too numerous to mention.

He was predeceased by his parents Roderick Settee and Mariam Settee/Carriere, his siblings, Alex, Emile, Victor, Paul, Susan, Elmer, Adele, and the mother of his children Adelaide Lathlin.

Tom loved to watch sports.  His favourite was the game of hockey.  He learned to play hockey at the age of 10 and appreciated the skill of the players, watched quietly until the final outcome not cheering for a specific team.  He came from a family of hockey fans.  He had a hobby of mentally updating the latest statistics as he followed the teams regularly.  He also followed his grandson Pavel’s hockey career.  Tom had several different occupations but he really enjoyed working as a heavy equipment operator for Cameco, Cogema, and the Seebea mines and accumulated numerous certificates for his ability to operate various machines with meticulous skill and proficiency.  He said the only machine he had not been certified to operate was a crane.  Nothing compared to the greatest joy in life which was the gift of his family.  His life was enhanced with each successive generation with which he was blessed.

His memory will be forever treasured by his son Brent Settee/Kara, grandchildren Dallas, Thierry, Lynden, BreAnn, and their grandchildren Haisley, Kylo, Saraya, Elijah and Cayde, his daughter Tina Young/Preston, grandchildren Vince, Tecia, and Trinity, and their grandchildren Parker and Tinsley.  His wife Penny Settee and the children they raised together; stepdaughter Sharise Rosteski, grandchildren Kao, Wolfie, stepdaughter Cyerra Powder/Corey, grandchildren Leah and Havoc, stepson Terrence Powder/Kaitlyn and grandchild Ivy.  His siblings, Mary, Elvis Settee/Rosemary, Charles Settee, Wilma Chaboyer/Raymond, Douglas Settee/Agnes, Raymond Settee/Kendra, Patrick Settee/Valerie and all of the nieces and nephews that meant so much to him.  All of his great grandchildren who brought insurmountable joy into the quality of his life.  He accumulated an abundance of friendships and in-laws that he continued to honour throughout the changes in his life.
