Obituary of Nancy Fosseneuve

Nancy Marion Fosseneuve was born in Cumberland House Hospital on August 13, 1965 to Hilda & Roderick Thomas. She grew up on her parents’ home at Pemmican Portage.  She completed elementary and primary school at Charlebois School in Cumberland House. Later, she attended short courses in the community.  Marion was blessed with her first daughter, Sarah Lee Thomas. She cohabited with her first love; Emile Settee and they were blessed with four children. Marion continued to be blessed with grandchildren over the years, whom she helped care for, loving them unconditionally.  In 2015, she met Peter Fosseneue and they courted for a year. 

On August 20, 2016, Marion and Peter married, welcoming their children and grandchildren into the circle. They resided on the Cumberland House Cree Nation.  They eventually were able to secure their own home.

Marion loved to cook traditional food and made the best Bannock.  She liked to go for walks, fishing and sewing.  Making friends not only in the community but other towns, she held lasting friendships. Those were happy days for her as they shared many laughs. Marion helped raise not only her grandchildren but also a couple of daughters of a relative in The Pas, MB.  From early childhood, Marion loved owls and often collected figurines. She also had a knack for having the last word.

Nancy Marion is predeceased by her maternal grandparents; William Baker & Emily Sewap: paternal grandparents:  John & Nancy Thomas; parents; Roderick and Hilda Thomas; her in-laws: Thomas Laliberte & Mary Pacey; her brothers: Jonathon Thomas and Roderick Columb; and brothers-in-law, Brian Bignell; & numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.

She is survived by her husband of 10 years Peter Fosseneuve; her sons: Wilfred Thomas, Pierre Thomas, her daughters: Sarah Buck (Tom), Tiffany, and Olivia; her grandchildren: Roderick Thomas, Nancy, Hilda, Thomas, Alexander Buck, Thomas Buck, Myra Buck; Taiyah Sanderson, Hunter Nawakayas, Segan Nawakaya, Autumn Thomas; Brice Crane, Tayla Thomas, Taegan Thomas, Taezan Thomas, Justivia Tapayosatum; numerous nieces and nephews; her brothers, Trini Thomas (Gloria), Pierre Thomas, Arthur Thomas, Willard Thomas (Betsy); her sisters: Matilda Nabess (Tomix), Tanya Colomb, Maryjane Greenleaf, Rosalie McKenzie (Pat); and numerous in-laws.
