Obituary of Anna Helstein
Anna Helstein was born in Poland to Andrew and Theodozia “Fanny” (Demko) Patrick on September 13, 1925. The family immigrated to Canada and moved to a homestead two miles south of Village of Tobin Lake when Anna was 4 years old. When Anna was about fourteen she started school at the newly opened Hollywood school.
Anna married Mike Helstein on May 12, 1946. They farmed in the Pas Trail district where they welcomed their daughter into their family. They then moved to the farm at Forest Trail. Anna worked with Mike on the farm and always grew a big garden.
After retiring to Nipawin in 1975, Anna joined the U.C.W. She also filled her time with quilting, sewing, crochet and more gardening. Her declining health necessitated a move 3 years ago to Saskatoon to be closer to family.
Anna was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Fanny Patrick; husband Mike Helstein, parents-in-law Wilhelm & Elizabeth Helstein.
She is survived by her sister Sylvia Paulson (Duane), daughter Gladys (Don) Kemmer, sister-in-law Laura Helstein and many nieces and nephews including special nieces & nephews of the Seerey family.
