Obituary of Francis Marie Leyh
Francis Marie Leyh was born November 7th, 1933 in Amos, Abitibi, Quebec. One of eight children born to Ulric and Marie Lamothe, a local barber.
Widowed at the age of 20 and not officially of age in Quebec Fran relied on family to assist her in raising her two children. She married Clarence Leyh on April 23rd, 1957 and moved to Choiceland shortly after to assist Anne and George Leyh on their farm. Three more children were added to the family. Fran’s barber roots came through and she cut a lot of family hair for many years. Fran was an avid gardener and cook. Her donuts were legendary in the Choiceland area. She was very creative, enjoyed drawing sewing, and in later years tatting. She tatted necklaces, earrings, doilies and bookmarks shaped like crosses. She also tatted a star for each or her grandchildren. We were blessed to have her for 18 years after her first cancer diagnosis. We will miss her determination, inspiration, sense of humor as well as her motherly wisdom and advice.
Fran is predeceased by her husbands Alphonse and Clarence, sisters Lucille, Marthé and brothers Claude, René and Roland.
Left to treasure her memory are Jacques Bertrand (Marilyn), Lynn Sheridan (David), Brian Leyh (Cindy), Wayne Leyh (Cindy), David Leyh, nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, her brother Robert and her sister Elise.
Au revoir maman, may the angels watch over you.
