Obituary of Jeanette Gwenda Jasmine Nawakayas

Please share a memory of Jeanette to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jeannette was born on July 16, 1982 at the Nipawin Union Hospital to Morris and Rebecca Settee. Jeannette loved to spend her time with family and friends. She received her education at Johnny Stewart Memorial School and continued her education at NAMS where she challenged her Adult 12 education until her illness (diabetes) had slowly taken over. Jeannette was a loving wife to her husband George whom she met in her teenage years and later married her soulmate George on July 7, 2012. She loved playing cards and visiting. She was also a foster parent, and loved babysitting her nieces and nephews.  Language Keepers Conference 1998 in Saskatoon, SK, she placed 1st on her Cree orated presentation about her late grandpa Pierre Settee. Out of 36 different schools she competed within the PAGC. Whenever you were feeling lost Jeannette would use her grandmothers wise words to help you find your purpose in life. She would always bring up the Times when her grandmother would teach her and her cousins about medicine from the land. She was a daughter, wife, auntie, daughter-in-law and most of all she was a sister to all. Her voice brought comfort to those who needed to be around her. She had a wonderful sense of humour in her and loved to joke around with family and friends. Special thanks to the taxi drivers, always calling them bros.
