Obituary of Gilbert Clifford Laliberty
Please share a memory of Gilbert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gilbert Clifford Laliberty was the seventh child born to Moise and Mary Laliberte. He was born and raised in Pine Bluff, Saskatchewan. Gilbert was taught hunting, trapping and fishing skills from his grandpa Thomas. He was very resourceful and helpful as a young boy growing up in Pine Bluff. Later in life, Gilbert loved returning to his childhood home of Pine Bluff. He enjoyed the serenity of the land and thoroughly enjoyed harvesting wigēs. People would often rely on him for his ability to seek out this natural medicine to bring healing to family and friends.
Gilbert was a quiet man and lived a simple life. He was a helpful man, he showed his kindness to his neighbors by helping them prepare ducks and geese in the spring and fall. He always was willing to help family and friends with yard work when an extra hand was needed. He enjoyed his daily walks from his home to the Chief Island Community Store and The Northern Store. Sometimes he would walk this route three to five times a day! Depending on the weather. He would enjoy his coffee over playing scratch and win cards, in the evenings he would get together with family and friends to visit and play poker or 10x’s.
Gilbert will be sadly missed by his two brothers Napoleon and John, his many nieces and nephews as well as grand-nieces and grand-nephews, his numerous friends and all who knew him. Gilbert also took in ‘Rod Thomas’ and raised him as his own son.
