Obituary of Jacob Elvin Doerksen

Please share a memory of Jacob to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Elvin Jacob Doerksen was born on the north side of the North Saskatchewan River.  He was a father of 6, grandfather of 8 and great-grandfather of 8.  He worked most of his life in the logging industry and was known locally as one of the best heavy equipment operators and road builders.  He had tremendous knowledge and skill and his children remember how fearless he was in the bush.  Everyone has respect and appreciation for how hard he worked and what a big heart he had.

In the latter part of his life, he embraced his Metis heritage with pride.  Elvin's family was important to him and this was evident from the many, many, many photos that were displayed proudly in his humble living space.  His smile lit up around his grandkids and great-grandkids.  They brought him joy, and many of them have fantastic memories of their entertaining and colourful relationships with him.  We know they will all miss him terribly.

Elvin wanted to come home to Saskatchewan ... his desire was to be at rest beside both his mother and grandmother.  As a family we are deeply honoured and grateful to fulfill those wishes.
