Obituary of Sophie Fabish

Please share a memory of Sophie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sophie Fabish was born in Comox, BC on October 25, 1936. Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all. She passed away on February 14, 2020 at the Nipawin Union Hospital. Sophie moved back to Saskatchewan with her family when she was very young. She attended Guide Me school not far from home. Sophie was helping on the family farm when she met her soulmate Frank. They were married on February 15, 1954. They started their family then moved to Shipman in 1967 where they would continue to raise 8 wonderful children. Sophie worked in home care, where she did everything in her power to help people with anything they needed. Even after her retirement she continued to help those that had become family. During her life Sophie was always part of her community, volunteering at the Greek Orthodox Church, the Ladies auxiliary, and the seniors centre in Smeaton. She enjoyed playing cards and making amazing perogies. After her husband passed, she began going to bingo and travelling often to visit family and friends. Sophie took pride in hosting and sharing meals with family and friends as her door was open to everyone. She was a true matriarch to all those she considered family. Sophie is deeply remembered by her sons; Stan (Marilyn), Raymond (Kim), John (Tena), Michael (Kathy), Ken (Janice), and daughters; Janet (Dale), Gloria (Aaron), her siblings; Mary Basaraba, Morris (Sally) Bodnarchuk, her 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and her dearly loved friends. Sophie is predeceased by her husband Frank, her son Henry, her parents: Wasyl (Bill) and Wasylka (Sally) Bodnarchuk, her two sisters: Helen Antaya and Vera Kuchirka.
