Please share a memory of Irene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Irene was born in August, 1924 in the South Star district of Star City, the third daughter to George and Jean Lyons. She had seven sisters and one brother. She got her education at Berlin school. After her schooling, she worked as a hired girl for the Andrus family. On June 19, 1946, she married Calvert (Harry) Irving. To this union six children were born: Melvin Allen in June 1947; Cameron Calvert in July 1948; Myrna Lynne in Dec 1949; Donna Mae in March 1951; Deborah Irene in March 1955; and Shelly Lee in August 1961. They resided in Pleasantdale where Harry worked for the RM driving a patrol. In 1960, they moved to Tisdale where they had the dry cleaners with Gordon and Olive. Mom loved gardening but only flowers. As soon as dad passed, no more garden, only flowers. Lilies were her favorite. She stayed in her own house until Feb 2018 with Shelly’s help until she couldn’t manage any more. She made many friends in New Market Place with the residents as well as the staff. Irene was predeceased by husband, Harry; son Melvin; sisters: Olive, Rhoda and Lorna; son-in-law Ray. Irene is survived by her son: Cameron (Betty-Anne); grandchildren: Jaret and Terry-Anne; daughter: Myrna (Garry); grandchildren: Derek and Devin; daughter: Donna; grandchildren: Christina and Deanna; daughter: Debbie (Jim); grandchildren: Dailen, Melanie and Lesley; daughter: Shelly; grandchildren: Janel, Joal, Rashell and Ryan; 31 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters: Ethel, Stella, Evelyn and Verlyn; brother: Murray; and well as many nieces and nephews.
