Obituary of Shirley Elizabeth Hoiland-Reavie

Shirley Elizabeth Hoiland-Reavie was born to Herbert and Kathleen Stewart (Baldwin) in October 1934 on a farm near Borden, Saskatchewan. She was the eldest of five children. Early in her childhood, the family moved to a farm near Vawn, Saskatchewan. She spent her childhood years working hard on the family farm.
After high school, she moved to Ontario where she worked at various jobs and stayed with her Aunt Grace and Uncle Jim. That is where she was first introduced to the Anglican Church. The church and her faith always played an important role in her life. Afterwards she moved back to Saskatoon and started working at Eatons. In Saskatoon is where she met John.
In 1962 Shirley married John Hoiland of Brock, Saskatchewan. It was not long before they were blessed with their four children; Heather (1962), Donald (1963), Robert (1965), and Kathleen (1974). In 1964, they purchased the family farm near Arborfield.
John passed away in 1997 and in 1999 she married Stanley Reavie. They spent years traveling and enjoying retirement together before Stan passed away in 2006.
She had a love for gardening, flowers, and taking care of her many house plants. She also spent many years as a cook at camp Okema with her dear friend Betty.
Shirley loved baking and cooking and her bread and buns were always sought after at bake sales. She was a woman of great hospitality and a friend to all who knew her.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents Herbert and Kathleen, first husband John, second husband Stanley, and her son Robert.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Heather (Dale Dedio); son Donald (Jeanne) and their children Erica (Adam O’Neill), Rebecca (Jordan Li), Chloe, and Miranda; daughter Kathleen (Albert Fortier) and their children Abby and Emma; grand-children Martina (Ryan Dunlop) and Tom; and three great-grandchildren: Alix Dunlop, Kayleigh Dunlop, and Jack O’Neill. Shirley is also survived by her siblings George, Fay (Ron Baldwin), Jack, and Dorothy (Del Mitchell).
