Please share a memory of Linda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Linda Christene Schekk (nee From) of Mistatim, Saskatchewan was born in December 1953 and passed from this life on December 29th, 2020. After a year and a half battle with cancer, Linda passed away peacefully at Tisdale Hospital. Linda was born in Oliver, British Columbia on her way to the hospital. From the beginning, Linda did things at her own pace. She was raised in towns all over B.C. and attended many schools before graduating from Mount Sentinel, in Crescent Valley, B.C. She was one of 5 children between Inez and Reg Broughton. She had two younger brothers Earl From and Nels From, as well as two step-brothers Frank Broughton and Jim Broughton. The children grew up loving B.C. life and spending summers at a family farm in Grand Forks. From B.C., Linda hit the road and ended up landing in Melfort, Saskatchewan. While her stay in Melfort she met her future husband, Ernie Schekk. During this time, she was a loving care giver to a few people in town and travelled Europe. She was never one to be scared to take on the world by herself. Once returning from her travels she settled down, married Ernie, and had three children. She spent the next many years of her life working at the post office and raising her children on the family farm. Linda loved the arts; painting, music, woodwork, quilting, etc. She was also heavily into Bowen, where she helped many people in the Mistatim area. Linda loved her life at the farm and since retiring, could be found by her swather all summer long. She was also heavily involved in her church and community and loved to help out where ever needed. Her biggest love will forever be her family. She loved nothing more that spending days at the farm or going to visit her children and grandchild, while always making sure we were taking our vitamins correctly. She also spent countless hours answering all the facetime calls to G-ma just to show her a piece of Tupperware her granddaughter found. Linda was predeceased by her mom, Inez Broughton, and her dad, Ingval From. She is survived by her step-dad, Reg Broughton, her husband, Ernest Schekk, her brothers, Nels From, Earl From, Frank Broughton, and Jim Broughton, and her three children, April Schekk (Tyson Daly), Dianne Thorpe (Devon Thorpe and Olivia Thorpe), and Mark Schekk (Amanda Lehman, Raine and Makenna), as well as countless aunts, uncles, in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Linda’s smile, quirky sense of humor, and passion for life will be deeply missed. Funeral Service will be a Private, Family Service.
