Delia Mae McKee was born at home, on the farm, near Star City, Sask. in January 1927. She was the third child of a family of 15 born to Wesley & Gladys McKee. She loved working with her dad on the farm. Perhaps that’s where she learned her love of working. She took all of her schooling at the Campbellville rural school, then began nurse’s training in the Prince Albert Sanatorium early in 1945. She married Gordon McKenzie Rowan that September, before completing her training & moving to the farm he owned at Battle Heights, SK. A disappointing venture made the family decide to live & work in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan, for 4 years, after which, they moved back to the farm at Battle Heights, in 1960. Delia and Gordon were blessed with four children: Laura Mae, born in 1947; Gordon Elmer Jr., born in 1949; Valerie Jeanne, born in 1963; & John Daniel, born in 1966. Delia was a nurse’s aide for about 16 years, altogether, working in Prince Albert, Hudson Bay, & Carrot River. She was a farm wife for about 50 years. In 1998, the farm was sold so Gordon & Delia could move to Alberta, where they bought a new home together with Val in Clive. After 8 years, Gordon passed away, so Delia decided she would like to live closer to her sisters. She bought a house in Tisdale & enjoyed gardening & having Valerie live with her. Health problems made it a necessity for Delia to make a final move to the Carrot River Nursing Home, where she resided until her passing. Delia’s most precious possessions was her family. She always wanted to be with family and she always wanted to help and do things for her family. Her heart was faithful to the end. She is survived by three children: daughter, Laura (Allen)Hall; granddaughter Janet (Colin) Gionet; great grandchildren: Shanaye (Tanner) Gionet and Isaiah (Lina) Gionet; grandson: Wayne (Jolene) Hall; great grandchildren Joshua Hall and William (Leslie) Hall; and great great granddaughter Lily Hall; Daughter, Valerie Rowan; Son Daniel (Monica)Rowan; granddaughter Crystal (Russell) Wlaz; great grandchildren, Dustin (Kirsten) Wlaz, great great grandson, Parker Wlaz; great grandson Dylan Wlaz; great grandson Christopher Rowan; great great grandchildren, Max Sim-Rowan, Samantha Sim-Rowan & Alex Sim-Rowan; four sisters: Margaret (Bob) Vansteelandt, Edith Pederson, Norma Fidyk, Verna Larsen; and three brothers: Harvey (Barb) McKee, Lyle (Shirley) McKee and Richard McKee; and many nieces and nephews who loved her. Delia is predeceased by her husband, Gordon Mckenzie Rowan; her son, Gordon Jr.; her parents, Wesley & Gladys McKee; and several brothers and sisters. Private Family Service
