Obituary of Sharon R Lindbergh
Please share a memory of Sharon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sharon was born in Nipawin Lady Grey Hospital in August, 1936 to Garnet & Molly Reed. She grew up on her parents’ homestead. She took grades 1,2 &3 at Justamere School, walking cross country through the dense forest just to get there. Later, she went to Elkridge to finish her schooling. It was there, at just 11 years old, that she met Lorne, the love of her life and future husband. She lived in Codette with her grandparents, then took her high school and bookkeeping courses in Nipawin. She then worked as a steno at the Nipawin Hospital, along with working at Beckers Cement Plant.
In 1958, Sharon and Lorne married, welcoming their 3 sons in to their family; Miles, Curtis and Mark. They lived in Battleford, Lashburn, Furness, then White Fox. They eventually bought Lorne’s parents’ farm in Choiceland and have lived there ever since.
Sharon loved casino tours, traveling to Hawaii, Spain, Sweden, New Orleans, and a Caribbean cruise. She drove school bus for 29 years and loved to sit in the coffee shop with her ‘bus driver friends’: Jack, Mort, Don and Lillian. Those were happy days for her as they shared many laughs. On the farm, she helped haul grain and take care of the chickens. Every spring, she would get a hundred chickens that she would butcher in the fall with the help of her mom, dad and brother Terry. She even had a few turkeys. One fall, Mr. Owl started to think they were his chickens and took a few. One night, she heard him HOOTING and woke Lorne. Together, in their night clothes, Sharon with a flashlight, and Lorne with the shotgun…they put an end to the chicken stealing thief. OH…BUT HE WAS A BIG ONE! Sharon also had a knack for gardening.
Sharon is predeceased by her parents; Garnet & Molly Reed; her in-laws, Herman & Ester Lindbergh; her son, Curtis; sisters-in-law, Pauline Dressler & June Reed; and brothers-in-law, Ervin, Richard & Bill.
