Obituary of Ella Clapson
Please share a memory of Ella to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ella Virginia Clapson was born in September 1921 to Benjamin and Bonnie Wasson in Midland, Arkansas, USA.
At the age of 3, they immigrated to Canada and settled in the Ridgedale area. She attended school at Preston, a small school 4 ½ miles from their home.
Ella & some of her siblings started a band in 1940. They played for dances and wedding in the community for $1 or $2, and sometimes for free.
On November 29, 1943, she married Ted Clapson and started farming together where they lived until Ted’s health failed and they had to move off the farm.
They were blessed with 4 children: Larry (1946), Linda (1949), Melvin (1952) and Bryan (1955).
Ella wore many hats: wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, aunty & sister. She belonged to the Ridgedale United Church and Maple Leaf Homemakers. She also helped with the Ridgedale History Book. Her & Ted drove school bus for 31 years.
She moved to Pineview Terrace in Prince Albert in May of 2016, where she passed away peacefully on September 3, 2021, just 11 days short of her 100th birthday!
Ella was predeceased in 2010 by her husband of 67 years, Ted; her son Larry, in 2019; her grandson Jason in 2018; her parents, Benjamin & Bonnie Wasson; sisters and brothers.
She leaves to treasure her memories: her daughter, Linda; her sons, Melvin (Barb) and Bryan (Lori); her daughter-in-law, Sharon; her sisters, Lima & Mabel; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
“You are so loved. Rest in Peace.”
