Obituary of Robert Goulet
Robert ‘Joe’ Goulet was born in August, 1943 in Nipawin, SK to Joseph and Virginie Goulet. He was the 2nd youngest of 9 siblings. He grew up in Cumberland House, but left to go work in different parts of Saskatchewan. He came back to Cumberland House in the late 1960’s and that’s where he met the love of his life, Madeline. They married on November 15, 1975. They raised 8 children together. Joe and Madeline loved and cherished their children, their grandchildren and their great-grandchildren.
In the early years of their lives, Joe and Madeline spent countless hours working with the youth in both the village and the Cree Nation. They counselled married couples and volunteered on different boards & committees. Joe worked as the Wellness Coordinator for the VLMHC at CHCN until his health deteriorated. He also had a passion for Indian herbal medicines and would spend many hours picking medicines far and wide with his sons.
Joe was broken when his Maddy left so suddenly on April 23, 2019, that it truly gives us comfort to know that they are now together with the Lord, to whom they both had great faith in.
Joe will be remembered for his great sense of humor.
Joe leaves to treasure his memory, his sons: James (Betty) Highway, John ‘Chun’ (Laurie) Goulet, Logan Goulet and Tassie Goulet; his sister, Karen Vircaus; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Madeline Goulet; his parents, Joseph and Virginie Goulet; his children, William, Lorraine, Irvin, Rudy & Alma Goulet; his grandchildren, Michelle McGillivary and Norman Thomas; his nieces and nephews, Adelaide Lathlin, Roberta Goulet and Arthur Dorion Sr.; his mother & father in-law, William and Rosalie Greenleaf; his brother and sisters in-law, Horace (Marie) Greenleaf, Marie (Lionel) Deschambeault, and Hazel Greenleaf.
Robert is now with all his loved ones and is no longer suffering.
