Obituary of Susie Wiens
Susie was born in October 1937 to Abraham and Agatha Doerksen on the homestead north of Carrot River. She was born the third child of eighteen.
Susie met George Wiens in 1954 and they married in July of 1955. Mom and Dad lived in various locations throughout Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta. They settled on an acreage east of Carrot River from 1971-1994.
Mom was very busy raising her family. She always had a huge garden to keep food on the table. She also raised and butchered chickens. Mom sewed a lot of our clothes. When the children were in school, she would be up early to get all the lunches ready, then get on with her day, whether it was laundry, baking, cleaning, sewing, etc. Certain tasks were done on certain days of the week. Mom worked away from home once her children were older. She cooked in restaurants and bush camps and cleaned hotels. Mom would always make sure there was baking ready for Sunday in case company showed up for faspa. Mom loved spending time with her family as often as she could. Mom will always be remembered for the hardworking woman she was, raising her family and grateful for everything she taught us.
Susie was predeceased by her husband, George; a great-granddaughter; her parents; 3 sisters;
