Obituary of Cheryl Ann Soucy

Cheryl Ann Soucy (Nee: Cragg) was born in Arborfield, SK on December 10th, 1951, to Vernon and Mildred Cragg. She grew up on a farm near Arborfield and first attended Pembina School prior to graduating from Arborfield High School. After graduation, Cheryl moved to Saskatoon where she completed an Airline vocational course. She later returned to Arborfield to work at the Bank of Montreal. During this time, she met Omer and they were married on December 28, 1972. They began their life together in Nipawin and had two children, Tricia and Dean. While raising her family, Cheryl worked at the Bank of Montreal, a local electric shop, Nipawin Agricultural Society and the Met Store. She later worked part-time at the Dollar Store.
Cheryl spent many hours doing volunteer work with the Nipawin Hawks as well as supporting her children’s hockey and ringette activities. Cheryl and Omer spent many wonderful days at the cabin at Tobin Lake. After purchasing a motorhome, they explored Saskatchewan, camping and attending music jamborees. Cheryl also crocheted and participated in many community craft sales. She enjoyed and played the piano for many years, even after she lost her eye sight! Cheryl and Omer spent many nights old time dancing until her health declined. She also played the spoons while Omer and his group entertained at the local nursing homes.
Cheryl was very proud of her four grandchildren and loved them dearly.
Cheryl is predeceased by her parents, Vernon and Mildred Cragg; father & mother-in-law, Leo, and Yvonne Soucy; brother-in-law’s Paul Soucy (who passed away at 4 months old), Richard Soucy and Jim Childs; sister-in-law Jean Childs and nephew George Childs.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Omer of 44 years, daughter Tricia (Lee) Corbett and their son Jackson; son Dean (Deborah) and daughters Delaney, Deneve & Dovlyn; brother Bill (Margie) Cragg; sisters Sandra (Brian) Harmsworth; Vicki (Donald)McQueen; stepmother Irene Cragg; sister-in-law Marguerite Soucy, brother-in-law Louis (Carol) Soucy; numerous nieces and nephews as well as her companion and protector, their dog Tika.
