Obituary of Gerald Boyd Watts

Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Gerald (Gerry) Boyd Watts was born in Regina on August 30, 1930, the first son of Harry and Hazel Watts.

He attended school in Aylsham and worked on farms in the surrounding communities. While seeking employment in Alberta with friends, Gerry met his partner and soul mate Dagny Kronqvist.

In 1953, they moved to Unity where he worked at a cleaning plant and for farmers.  After a few years there, they moved to Smoky Burn where he had various jobs including operating a cat and working at sawmills.

Next came a move to Carrot River with Dagny and the girls.  He worked at Sims Garage, Carrot River Peat Moss, and Carrot River Implements.

During their five years in Lloydminster, Gerry and Dagny managed two apartment buildings. Gerry also worked as a Security Guard for Husky Oil.

1995 saw them return to Carrot River to retire.  During his retirement, Gerry loved to take Dagny fishing, until the episode where the boat sank before he got the trailer up the hill. After that, fishing was usually from the shore.  He also could be found at home tinkering on anything electronic.

Throughout his life Gerry had many humorous escapades with family or friends that are still talked about today, e.g. sliding down a ravine on a car hood in winter, shooting his big toe, the "potato in the eye "story, the "bull fly episode" at the swimming hole, and so many more!

He had a special and unique bond with each grandchild. His great grandchildren kept him entertained in a fun-loving manner.

Gerry leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 63 years Dagny; daughters: Wanda (Donald) Flowerday and Debbie (Brian) Findlay; grandchildren: Charity Flowerday (Dave Birch), Tyler Flowerday (Becky Fedusenko), Barrett Flowerday, Tamsen Skinner (Logan), Gerren Smart (Ken), and Brynn Findlay (Dustin Lagrelle); great grandchildren: Klara & Emily Birch, James Stirling & Hailey Flowerday, Brielle & Jayce Skinner, and Kyler Findlay; two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by an infant son, his parents, Dagny's parents, his brother, two brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, and one nephew.
