Obituary of Louis Burns

Louis Burns passed away on June 15th, 2024 surrounded by his wife, family and friends.

 

Louis was born in Kinistino, Saskatchewan to Wilfred Burns and Victoria (Sanderson) Burns. He grew up in James Smith Reserve.

 

He left the Reserve at an early age. He had numerous jobs along the way.  He met the love of his life, Harriet McGillivary, in Nipawin in June 1979. They got married on November 5th, 1983.  They had three children: Margaret, Blair and Jeremy.

 

Louis was a humble and a hardworking man. He started farming in 1984 and was dedicated to his work for 10 years. The band hired him to provide wood to about 40 houses in the winter. All in all, he was a good provider to his family through hunting, etc.

 

Louis is survived by his wife, Harriet Burns; his children: Margaret (Delvin), Blair, Jeremy, & Wilbert; his step-children: Byron (Jenn) McGillivary, Valerie Whitehead, Karen & Roberta; his grandchildren: Ethan, Mindy, Brody, Meadow, Logan, Eve, Teejay, and Ciara; his siblings: Nellie Head, Stella (Ross) Burns, and Norman (Linda) Burns.

 

He is predeceased by his parents: Wilfred & Victoria Burns; his grandparents: Alice & Joe Lestage; his in-laws: Joe and MaryJane McGillivary; his daughter: Judith; his granddaughter: Kadee Burns; his brothers: Joe Burns and Gilbert Burns; his sister: Nora Burns and his auntie: Nellie Constant.
