Obituary of Ila Robin
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ila Marie Robin on December 20,2024. Ila is survived by her daughter Jacqueline Labbe, son Marcel Robin and many extended family members. Ila is predeceased by her husband victor Robin and daughter Sharon Wawyk.
She was hard working and always busy doing something, whether it was making a meal, baking some fabulous deserts or cleaning her already clean house or yard. Each summer she loved planting flowers and her outdoor space was beautiful with pots of red geraniums and begonias.
Every year she had a little garden that never stopped giving and we were all so envious when we would see it. She had a lot of pride in her house and yard and she loved being complimented on it.
She kept her mind busy with knitting and crocheting during the winter months, while she watched Dancing with the Stars on TV. She got together with her friends to play tile rummy in the evenings. They had a lot of fun during these sessions and never missed having a good game. Coming to Saskatoon to shop was a highlight that she looked forward to a few times each year.
She often talked about her younger years, especially when World War II broke out and how she travelled by train from Saskatoon to Malton Air Force base just outside Toronto. She was one of many young women who went down east to work in the factories and who would weld fuel tanks onto aeroplanes. after a time doing this job she was promoted and took classes to learn how to weld with aluminum and received accolades for this new skill. She spent the next four years in Ontario and loved doing her part for the war effort.
During her life as a wife, a mother, and Grandmother and the 101 years she was with us it's hard to imagine the many things she saw over her lifetime.
