Helen was born September 28, 1922, the fourth of nine children, to Agnus and Herb Wilcox in Agnus’ mother’s home in Gull Lake, Sask. Grandma Bostock was the midwife. 3 days later her cousin Evelyn was also born in the same house. She was raised on a farm near Senate, Sask. until grade 8 then moved to Consul, Sask.
Helen moved to Trail, BC to work as a housekeeper in 1947. There she met Earl Jamieson and they were married in Coeur D’Alene, ID in 1948. They lived in Fruitvale, BC until 1950, when they moved back to Choiceland, Sask. to take over the family farm. Earl and Helen were active square dancers, who travelled over NE Sask to attend dances at various clubs. They were parent volunteers for the Air Cadets for many years even after their boys finished the program.
