Obituary of Calvin Glen Leale

Please share a memory of Calvin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Calvin Glen Leale was born on Sept. 11, 1930 to Alfred and Florence Leale.

Calvin grew up on farm 5 miles southwest of Nipawin in the Welland District and attended the Welland School along with his sisters Josie (Aitken) and Gwen Leale.

After leaving school Calvin worked on the family farm. In 1945 the family moved to Nipawin but continued to farm their land. Calvin was employed for many years at Pine Motors owned by A. Sinclair. He also was ice maker for the Nipawin Curling Club and still kept up the farm.

He was a member of the Anglican Church Choir which was a young men’s group called the Chiros. He was truly gifted with a beautiful tenor voice.

Calvin enjoyed sports and held offices in the hockey organization; he took part in bowling and curling.

Calvin married Donelda Seckinger on July 5, 1974. Donelda brought 3 children into this marriage and Calvin took on the role of husband, father and grandfather and did so with honor.  In 1977 they moved from Nipawin out to the farm where they had built a new home. They enjoyed travelling, camping and fishing and usually had a few grandchildren with them when they went.

Calvin gave his life to the Lord in the early 1980’s and never wavered on his love for Jesus, wanting everyone to find salvation. He was active and served as President in The Full Gospel Business Men Nipawin Chapter and strongly believed you must have a home church.  His desire was for family to always stay in touch and forgive each other, keeping the family strong.

Predeceased by his parents Alfred and Florence, Sister Gwen, Sister Josie & brother in-law Dave Aitken, step son Scott Seckinger, mother in-law Gertrude Scott, brother in-laws Duncan Scott, Bruce Scott, nephew Denys Aitken, nephew Fred Gingara.

Survived by – His dearly loved wife Donelda, daughters Doretta Millin and Debbie (Dennis) Karle, Grandchildren & their families Rick, Rodney, Ryan and Robert Barber, Kean Phillips, Tarra Phillips and many great- grandchildren.  Niece Joanne (Aitken) Gingara and great nephew Garnet Gingara
